Kennesaw State University (KSU) is seeking a visionary, collaborative, and strategic leader to serve as the next Dean of the Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SPCEET).


LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITY
This is an exciting opportunity for a distinguished scholar and accomplished academic leader, as the new Dean will guide the College forward at a time of tremendous opportunities and growth. Reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Dean serves as the chief academic officer for the College and is responsible for setting the strategic, operational, and financial directions for the College. The Dean is expected to take office on July 1, 2024.

SPCEET provides high-quality engineering degrees with educational activities led by industry-expert faculty in the University's state-of-the-art facilities. As the second-largest engineering college in Georgia, the College serves close to 5,000 students, offering undergraduate and graduate engineering and engineering technology degrees. The Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology has a history deep-rooted in innovation and education advancement.

SPCEET has four major research thrust areas including Intelligent Robotics Systems,
Smart Infrastructure, Biomedical and Health Systems, and Innovative Materials. The
College has seen substantial growth as researchers have received a total of over $8.5M in external funding over the past five years. This represents a 50% increase in proposal submission and 200% increase in awards annually over the same  five-year period.

The Dean provides leadership for the College in strategic planning, budgeting, fostering research, recruiting faculty and students, and fundraising. The Dean will be expected to develop a vision and establish strategic priorities for SPCEET and to contribute to the overall advancement of KSU such as improving student retention and graduation, ensuring high-impact teaching, supporting research and scholarly activity, growing and enhancing partnerships with alumni, professional, and community organizations, and contributing to the overall enhancement of institutional excellence.

The new Dean has the opportunity to imagine, create, and implement an ambitious
vision for Engineering and Engineering Technology that will enhance the reach and
reputation of the College. The Dean will support an interdisciplinary curriculum and
leverage the history of the College to meet its mission and grow the College's visibility.
