Anissa Lokey-Vega

Anissa Lokey-Vega is a professor of Instructional Technology.  Dr. Vega currently serves as the Associate Vice Provost providing oversight of curriculum, digital learning, academic policy, and academic innovations. In this role she leads and supports the institutional curriculum review process, general education, and online course quality review. Under the umbrella of academic innovation, she supports several cross-campus initiatives including Double Owl Pathways, Micro-credentialing, and learning analytics. Her office is advised by the following five shared governance committees: the University Policy and Curriculum Committee, the Graduate Policy and Curriculum Committee, the General Education Council, the Academic Assessment Council, and the Digital Learning Advisory Committee.

Dr. Vega was raised in Knoxville and completed her bachelor’s in mathematics education at the University of Tennessee followed by a master’s in education from the same institution. While teaching K-12 students and coordinating teacher professional development in Atlanta’s private schools, she pursued her Ph.D. in Instructional Design and Technology at Georgia State University. Since 2011 as faculty in the Department of Instructional Technology at KSU, Dr. Vega has taught graduate courses in program assessment, professional development design, online learning, educational technologies, and research methods. In addition to supervising doctoral research, she also served her department in program design, program assessment, and program coordination. Prior to her current appointment in Academic Affairs, she served as the Interim Director of Academic Innovation. In 2014, Dr. Vega was awarded the Affordable Learning Georgia Textbook Transformation Award and inducted into the Felton Jenkins, Jr. Hall of Fame in 2017 for online teaching by the Board of Regents for the University System of Georgia (USG).  In 2018, she served on Chancellor Wrigley’s College 2025 Committee charged with outlining the future of the USG. Dr. Vega’s research and presentations have focused on curriculum alignment, online teaching and learning, and new learning models.
