Course override is the process of receiving prior approval from the department to register for a specific course. Please note: you will need to register for the course through your Owl Express once the override is approved.
Course overrides are used in situations such as:
- A registration error was received and you met the course prerequisite or received prior approval.
- Transfer students please note: you may need to submit an override request form each semester if your transfer course is counting as a prerequisite.
- A closed course requires prior department approval.
Course substitution is the process of using one or more courses to satisfy specific course requirements within a degree program. This process requires approval and can take up to two weeks to appear on DegreeWorks.
Course substitutions are used in situations such as:
- Transfer credit that satisfies a degree requirement but needs to be moved on your DegreeWorks
- A course (with prior approval) was taken to satisfy a degree requirement
- Internship credit that has been approved to satisfy a specific course requirement
